                                            Masjid Nabawi

Masjid Nabawi or A
Masjid Nabawi l-Masjid an-Nabawī (Arabic pronunciation: [ʔælmæsʤɪd ælnabawī] (Arab: المسجد النبوي); Mosque of the Prophet) is a mosque founded directly by Prophet Muhammad, located in the center of Medina in Saudi Arabia. Nabawi Mosque is a mosque built third in the history of Islam and is now one of the largest mosques in the world. This mosque became the second holiest place in Islam, after the Grand Mosque in Mecca. The mosque is open every day. This mosque is actually a former house of the Prophet Muhammad who he lived after Hijra (moved) to Madinah in six hundred and twenty two M. The building of the mosque is actually built without a roof. The mosque at that time was used as a gathering place for people, majlis, and religious schools. This mosque is also one of the places mentioned in the name of the Qur'an. The progress of this mosque can not be separated from the influence of the progress of Islamic rulers. In 1909, it became the first place in the Arabian Peninsula to be illuminated by electric lighting. The mosque is under the protection and supervision of the Keepers of Two Holy Lands. The mosque is located right in the middle of the city of Medina, with several hotels and markets surrounding it. This mosque became the main purpose of the pilgrims or Umrah. Some pilgrims visit the tomb of Prophet Muhammad to trace his life in Medina. After a massive expansion under the Umayyad al-Walid I Sultanate, it was made place upon the last restoration of the Prophet Muhammad along with the two Caliphs of Rashidin Abu Bakr and Umar bin Khattab. One of the famous features of the Nabawi Mosque is the Green Dome located in the southeast of the mosque, which was once the home of Aisha, where the tomb of Prophet Muhammad is located. At twelve hundred and twenty-seven, a wooden cover was built and renovated at least twice in the fifteenth century and at eighteen hundred seventeen. The current dome was built at one thousand and eighteen by the Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II, and in green paint at one thousand eight hundred and thirty-seven, from then on the dome was known as the "Green Dome."
